Courtney Monsees

Swimming Expert

Coach Courtney is a Bay Area native, athlete, and mom. She grew up swimming and playing water polo, and after Division 1 competition in the pool, she expanded her passion for water sports to include open water swimming, triathlon, and kite surfing.

Courtney has shaped her coaching philosophy through the lessons she has learned about life and herself through swimming. Her goal is to instill in young people the importance of giving their absolute best every day. When approached with honesty and commitment, it fosters a profound sense of self-respect that becomes the cornerstone for overcoming life’s inevitable challenges.

“You cannot stay on the summit forever; you have to come down again. So why bother in the first place? Just this: What is above knows what is below, but what is below does not know what’s above. One climbs, one sees, one descends, one sees no longer, but one has seen. There is an art in conducting oneself in the lower regions by the memory of what one saw higher up. When one can no longer see, one can at least still know.” –Rene Daumal
